To Yo on Father's Day
Without getting too gushy, Yo has been the kind of husband that most girls only dream of. He is thoughtful, loving, kind, and loyal. So I knew he'd be a good dad, but I still didn't imagine how good.
Yo is amazing. From day one he has helped with diaper changes, baths, burping, clothing and rocking Kai to sleep. He entertains Kai with Norwegian songs and makes him laugh with silly faces. Yo adores Kai and Kai's face lights up every time Pappa walks into the room.
Kai may not know yet, how lucky he is to have such a hands-on, present dad, but I do. I couldn't imagine sharing the ups and downs of parenthood with anyone else. I love you, Yo!

Who's Baby is That?
I've gotten used to people's reactions who haven't seen Kai in a few months. Usually they are shocked and ask questions like, "Is that the same kid?"
I generally laugh and say something like, "Yeah. It's the formula."
Meaning that when we switched Kai over to formula he packed on a pound or two (or seven).
I remember Kai being a skinny kid. In fact, at his 2-month and 4-month appointments, the nurse had to get the small needle, the one for premies, when giving him his shots. I'd say he had chicken legs, but I don't want to insult any chickens out there. Yes, they were that skinny.
Still, I didn't realize how remarkable the change has been until Thursday when I discovered some forgotten photos on my pocket-sized camera. Since we got our new fancy-schmancy camera in March, I haven't used this camera. But on Thursday Kai was doing something cute and it was close at hand so I used it to snap a quick picture. I was surprised when the message popped up that my memory card was full.
So I started thumbing through the pictures and discovered these long lost gems:

Cute right?
Until you put them next to this:
...like my camera did for me.
Yo and I had a good laugh looking at the "Before" and "After" pictures. It was like seeing a bad weight loss commercial, but in reverse. Looking at Kai from a couple of months ago was like looking at another kid... one who had just been rescued from a concentration camp.
It just goes to show that somewhere along the line I got used to my rolly-polly, chubby baby with cheeks you could just squeeze for days. So if you're still shocked every time you see our once-skinny Kai, just give it some time and you'll get used to it, too.

Andersens/Adams Reunion Part II
Friday morning we flew down to LA to meet up with Jason and Gabby for a long weekend in So Cal. While our original grandiose plans of staying at some beach-side resort never panned out, our "Plan D" (staying at Gabby's sister's house) ended up working out perfectly. We spent our time shopping, watching movies, eating good food, at the pool, at the beach and cruising the PCH. All-in-all it was the perfect mini vacation. Here are a few pics (more are to come when I get them from Gabby).

Priceless
Although Kai is a model baby and sleeps about 12 hours straight at night now, this definitely wasn't always the case. In fact, prior to sleep training (all hail Ferber!), Kai was the worst sleeper. We tried every trick in the book and even made up some of our own...swinging, bouncing, shushing, swaddling, etc. etc. etc....
In the middle of this phase, out of sleep-depraved desperation, I bought Kai a bouncer based solely on the fact that on Amazon a lot of people left reviews saying that their terrible little sleepers bounced themselves into a coma in this thing. What can I say? I was willing to try anything.
Well, today I came home from work to this:
Thank you Fisher Price!
